    World Mental Health Day

    October 11th, 2017 by

Today in Year 1 we used bubbles to pop negative thoughts and instead filled our minds with positive thoughts.  We talked about who we would share our negative thoughts with, people that we trust. For example some children admitted they were afraid of the dark and so offers of positive thoughts came flooding in. One of the ideas was to close your eyes and think about playing on a beach.  The activity made the children realise that positive thoughts change their mood. We completed the lesson by putting all our negative thoughts into a balloon and bursting it, followed by playing  Pharrell Williams-Happy.

The children did their very best to consider what had happened.

Inside was a book that he had written. It’s called ‘The foggy, foggy forest.’ We created a story map and used makaton signs when retelling.

We had a mysterious, sparkly parcel appear in our forest this morning. Attached was a letter from Nick Sharratt telling the children that he needs their help as he has forgotten what objects go together and rhyme. We decided to help him and respond with a letter.
